Performance and Installation artist specializing in Eco-recyclable arts

Muhamed Mawo is a performance and installation artist specializing in eco-recyclable arts. He collaborates with young creatives to design costumes made from recycled materials, turning waste into expressive art pieces for festivals, commissions, and public showcases. His work promotes environmental awareness while equipping young people with practical skills in creative reuse and costume design.

Muhamed’s artistic experience includes photography, art design, promotions, organizing, and communication. Since 2022, he has been creating and presenting innovative recyclable-material costumes at the Nyege Nyege Festival in Kampala. His background also includes managing Hybread Bar & Restaurant, where he oversaw operations and promoted events for local artists, as well as running Kampala Songi Songi, a personal venture dedicated to event promotion in Uganda and Congo.

Recognized for his contribution to the arts, Muhamed received a 2023 Ghetto Award in Kampala. He continues to explore new artistic possibilities with recycled materials while mentoring emerging talent and supporting a more sustainable creative culture.
